This is a new build development adjacent to Letcombe brook consisting of five 3-bed terraced town houses and one 2-bed flat with parking underneath. Due to the proximity of the brook, piling the existing site in order to secure the foundations was essential. The properties consisted of beam and block floors on concrete ring beams, traditional brick cavity walls to the first floor and timber frame construction to the first floor with rooms constructed in the roof space. The proximity to the brook caused problems when constructing the rear elevation due to no working space available. A work around for this included a scaffold platform big enough to safely allow the workers complete access to all areas of the site. The side of the river bank was sandbagged and replanted to accommodate the wildlife of the river bank.
