In 2019, the Beehive Building—once a valued council facility—fell into disuse and remained empty for years. Today, it is well on its way to becoming a thriving community hub once again, thanks to the dedication and craftsmanship of Hive Construction NW Ltd. What was once an abandoned structure is being transformed into a welcoming centre offering:

• A fully equipped repair workshop
• A safe learning space for children to gain cycling confidence
• A warm, inviting community kiosk

This rejuvenated space aims to bring people together, support local families, and create new opportunities for learning and engagement.

The Challenge

The Beehive Building required significant repair and redevelopment. Previous contractors had stepped away, leaving the local project leaders searching for a team willing to commit to their vision and bring the building back to life.

The challenge wasn’t just structural—it required belief, passion, and a willingness to roll up sleeves and get stuck in.

Our Approach

When Hive Construction NW Ltd heard about the project, we knew it mattered. Led by Luke Lenehan, our team stepped in with a commitment to restore the building and support the community behind it. We donated time, skills, and specialist expertise to help push the project forward at a crucial stage. Our focus included:

• Restoring and preparing interior spaces
• Fabricating bespoke joinery and fittings
• Enhancing safety and usability throughout the building
• Creating practical layouts for workshop and learning areas

This hands-on effort ensured the Beehive Building was not only structurally sound but optimised for its future purpose.

The Impact

With the building now functional and welcoming again, the community is already preparing for the next milestone: building the much-anticipated Max Trax cycle track.
